How does NearCircle protect my privacy?
Every location update is end-to-end encrypted on your device before it leaves. We can't read where you are, and we don't want to. Your data is yours — not a product we sell.
What data does NearCircle collect?
Only what's needed to make the app work: encrypted location pings, a user ID, and basic account info. No ad identifiers, no third-party trackers, no behavioral profiles.
How is NearCircle different from Life360?
Life360 was caught selling precise location data to brokers. We built NearCircle specifically so that can never happen here — zero data selling is legally binding, and with E2E encryption it's also technically impossible.
Does NearCircle drain my battery?
No — we use adaptive location updates that slow down when you're stationary and speed up when you're moving. Typical daily battery cost is 2-4%, similar to Apple's built-in Find My.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. One tap in Settings wipes your account, history, and every saved place. Circle members are notified so nothing looks suspicious. The deletion is permanent and takes effect within minutes.
Is NearCircle free?
Yes — the free tier includes 1 circle of up to 3 members, 2 saved places, and 1 day of location history. Upgrade to Plus or Family for larger circles, longer history, SOS, and elderly care features.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Sign in on another device with your account and your circle instantly reconnects. Because everything is encrypted with your keys, a lost phone gives a stranger no access to your family's locations.
Does NearCircle work on Apple Watch?
Yes — the watchOS companion shows your circle on the wrist, lets you trigger SOS with a long-press, and receives arrival/departure alerts. Android Wear support is on the roadmap.
